Hello Lovelies,
We hope you’re staying warm during these chilly winter months. For us, nothing beats cozying up by the fireplace, indulging in some quality cuddle time, and, of course, embracing the sexy vibes that come with it.
As we shared in our last post, we made our long-awaited return to Desire Riviera Maya after a seven-year hiatus. Life had pulled us in different directions, and while we had attended some great lifestyle events across the U.S. and met incredible people along the way, we had yet to make it back to the place that held so many fond memories for us.
In early 2020, while reviewing our travel plans for the year, the world suddenly shifted as all know. Within weeks, we found ourselves navigating the chaos of March 2020, trying to balance work, virtual school for our kids, and trying to maintain some sense of normalcy. Though our industries weren’t directly tied to healthcare, the pandemic completely disrupted our professional and personal lives like so many others. As the months rolled on, we optimistically looked ahead to our first lifestyle cruise in November 2021, thinking the world would be back to normal within a few months. But by early 2021, we had to accept that the cruise, along with several other plans, wouldn’t be happening. Instead, we focused on family, career growth, and checking off some long-overdue bucket list items.
But our desire (pun intended) to return to Mexico never waned. The thought of the warm sun, refreshing cocktails, and steamy nights with new and old friends kept us going. Finally, we found a date that worked for us in late summer 2024 and booked our long overdue return trip. Since we weren’t part of a takeover group or traveling with old friends, we joined an online chat with others visiting that same week. It was a fun way to connect before the trip, swap stories, and build anticipation.
A Return to Paradise
The moment we arrived, it felt like a homecoming. The resort had changed, with a stunning new addition complementing the original space. After unpacking, we took a walk around, marveling at the beauty of the property before making our way to the beach bar just a few feet from our room. We sipped our drinks, breathed in the ocean air, and chatted with the bartender and some couples who were finishing up their stay. It was the perfect way to ease into vacation mode.
One of the things we love about Desire is how quickly we can disconnect from our daily routines. By the time we made it to dinner that first night, we had fully embraced vacation mode, dressed to impress for theme night, ready to dance, flirt, and soak in every moment.
Connections and Vibes
Our second day found us at the pool bar, striking up conversations with couples from Mexico, Chile, Nashville, Chicago, and San Francisco. We instantly clicked with several of them, sharing deep and silly conversations in the afternoon and then on the dance floor by night.
Despite the great connections we made, we noticed something felt a little different this time. There appeared to be several groups at the resort who seemed to be part of takeovers, and while we’ve always loved the social aspect of Desire, we found ourselves missing the sense of community we’ve experienced at other events. We ended up bumping into old friends from Canada on the dance floor one night, and we were both surprised to see each other. We were able to catch up over dinner the next night and had wonderful conversations.
At past events, we’ve either traveled with a group or met up with friends of friends, which naturally led to shared experiences. Whether it was group dinners, poolside games, or lazy afternoons recovering from wild nights. This time, while we had fun and met wonderful people, we couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing or just a bit off. We even had some personal reflection to ensure, was it us? Are we off?
The Power of Community
One thing we’ve learned from attending lifestyle events across the U.S. and Canada is the magic of community. Walking into an event and seeing familiar faces (while still meeting new ones) creates a deeper level of connection that enhances the overall experience.
We know at the end of the day, it is always about us as a couple first, and whether we find our tribe at an event or not, we still always have an amazing time together. When looking ahead, we do find ourselves drawn to events that foster that same sense of belonging. We would love to be able to return to Desire this year, with a small group of people from a community we’re part of. There is something fun and special about attending with 8-10 couples at the same time. Chatting ahead of time, having fun dinners together and meeting people in real life after months of chatting. Whether it’s another trip to Desire or one of the many incredible lifestyle gatherings out there, we’re excited to continue exploring, meeting like-minded people, and making unforgettable memories. And next time, we just might coordinate with a group ahead of time to recapture that special dynamic we’ve come to love.
If there’s one thing, we’ve taken away from attending lifestyle events, it’s the undeniable power of community. There’s something special about walking into a space filled with familiar faces while still having the freedom to meet new people. It deepens the experience, fosters meaningful connections, and makes the moments even more memorable.
Looking ahead, we’re drawn to events that cultivate that sense of belonging. Whether it’s another trip to Desire or one of the many incredible lifestyle gatherings out there, we know that for us, the best experiences come from balancing adventure, intimacy, and shared connections. And next time, we just might coordinate with a group to recapture that electric dynamic we love so much.
If there’s one thing, we’ve come to appreciate from attending lifestyle events across the U.S. and Canada, it’s the power of community. Walking into an event and recognizing familiar faces while still embracing the excitement of meeting new people adds a unique depth to the experience. While our journey is always centered around us as a couple, finding a group that shares our energy, and vibe enhances the adventure even more.
Looking ahead, we’re drawn to events that cultivate that sense of belonging. The idea of returning to Desire with a small group from a community we’re part of excites us. There’s something truly special about connecting with 8-10 couples in advance, sharing conversations, planning fun dinners, and finally meeting in person after months of chatting. Whether it’s another trip to Desire or one of the many incredible lifestyle gatherings out there, we’re eager to keep exploring, building connections, and creating unforgettable memories. And next time, we just might coordinate with a group to recapture that electric dynamic we love so much.
Until next time, stay sexy and adventurous!
